Chingkhei Thokchom, born on the quiet morning of June 3, 2004, in Manipur, was a child with full dreams and laughter. However, life turned around for him when he was struck by an heart-wrenching tragedy in 2018. Chingkhei, at a very young age, lost his father to a heart attack, leaving his family to face the utmost pain and to carry heavy debts. The young lad, once carefree, assumed loads of responsibilities far beyond his years.
As he sat amidst the despair, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of his uncle, clearing the debts of his family. Though thankful, Chingkhei couldn’t rid himself of the feeling that responsibility lay in rebuilding and securing the future of his family. He sat and thought hard about earning money, elaborating upon hundreds of ideas. Nights were spent scanning through videos on YouTube for opportunities, and most of them seemed vague and unachievable.
Chingkhei was dabbling into various deals, creating his YouTube channels, and making reels for Facebook, though proper guidance is what he never received. Unfortunately, he encountered a few fraudulent schemes that tricked him by offering fake investments and online fraud games. His every failure would strengthen his urge. He won’t let this defeat define him.
After completing his 12th standard, Chingkhei went to the city, taking a leap of faith. With less money, he found a small room and started working as a tea seller, serving shopkeepers and street vendors. The days were grueling and the earnings meager, but the experience made him learn his resilience and hard work. However, he did not lose hope in the fact that a better future was waiting.
It was through one of his routine online searches that Chingkhei found himself watching a video that would eventually change his life: “How to Earn Money Online in Manipur.” Interested, he jumped into the content, and for the first time, he became clear. Through the video, he was introduced to a mentor who would later change his life forever: Thokchom Surmangol, the founder of Asksur.
Under the mentorship of Surmangol, Chingkhei learned the nitty-gritty of digital marketing. His mentor did not just give him tips but gave him a wealth of knowledge on online business strategies, content creation, and the digital economy. For the first time, Chingkhei felt equipped with the tools he needed to succeed. He embraced these lessons wholeheartedly, channeling his newfound skills into actionable steps.
Now, Chingkhei is no longer the lost boy who wandered without knowing what he was looking for. He has grown into a young entrepreneur, equipped with digital marketing skills and vision for the future. His journey, which had loss, struggle, and determination, is a testament to the power of perseverance and the impact of the right guidance.
